Please have beverages and refreshments in our canteen area until you feel well enough to leave. |

Increase your fluid intake for the next 24 to 48 hours. |
3. |
Eat well-balanced meals for the next 24 hours. |
4. |
After donating, smoking and alcohol consumption are NOT recommended. |
5. |
Leave the bandage on for at least 4 hours and keep the site dry. |
6. |
If you feel dizzy, lie down until the dizziness passes. If you experience prolonged discomfort, please call the Blood Center at [609] 883-9750, Ext. 115 or 117. |
7. |
During the next 12 hours, avoid strenuous exercise such as tennis, jogging, golf, swimming, basketball, etc. DO NOT lift heavy objects. |
| Usually bleeding does not occur at the needle site. However, if bleeding does occur, raise your arm above your head and apply moderate pressure for 3 to 5 minutes until the bleeding stops. The site may appear bruised. If this happens: |

Day 1: Wrap ice in a moist cloth
and apply to the site 15-20 minutes, 3-4 times during the day. |

Day 2, 3, and 4: Apply a warm
moist cloth to the site for 15-20 minutes, 3-4 times each day. |
| It is not unusual for a bruised area to change in color. If there is excessive redness or discomfort, please call the Blood Center at [609] 883-9750, Ext. 115 or 117. |
