Community Blood Council of NJ
Employee of The Month
for February, 2004

Mrs. Elena DeJesus
Meet Elena DeJesus, our February Employee of the Month!
Elena is a phlebotomist in Donor Services, and although she has been with The Community Blood Council of New Jersey for only five months, she has made her mark in a very positive way.
“Elena has gone beyond the call of duty,” commented Patrick Deschenes, Chief Executive Officer of The Community Blood Council of New Jersey. “In addition to producing outstanding results in the donor room, she has reached out to the Hispanic community in the Trenton area on her own initiative.”
As part of her outreach effort, Elena recently appeared on a Spanish-speaking cable TV program in the Trenton area.
Mrs. DeJesus attended Catholic University of Puerto Rico, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was trained in phlebotomy at Mercer County Community College and interned at Helene Fuld Medical Center in Trenton. She was previously employed by the Joslin Center for Diabetes at Saint Barnabas, in Princeton.
In her free time Mrs. DeJesus works as a wedding planner and has planned over 300 weddings. She is married, and lives in Hamilton Twp. with her husband, Jimmy and their two children, Melissa and Daniel.
