José Castro

José Castro, our August Employee of the Month, has been with CBC-NJ since August of last year. He’s rarely seen at the center, though. That’s because as one of our drivers, he’s continually on the road, making deliveries or on our mobile blood drives. But José does a lot more than drive for the center.

Come by after hours, and you just might catch a glimpse of José as he works around the property doing carpentry and painting. For instance, he came in on nights and weekends, working on the construction of and painting our new building #3. He recently painted Dr. Shinder’s new office in Building 2. Additionally, he has put down the flooring in our lab.

Prior to coming to CBC-NJ, he worked for NYG Management doing construction work.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, José came to the US on January 1, 1990. He lived in the Bronx and worked in New York City for 14 years as a taxi driver. (We know he has nerves of steel.) Now he lives in Trenton. He is married to Anna Colon. They have two children, Michelle Colon and Ricky Castro.

He claims he has no free time. But when pressed, he said he’s also busy with church and his family, loves to play baseball (he’s a pitcher) and is studying English.

About CBC-NJ he says, “I love working here.” We love having him here.
