David G. Perez Reaches Magic Number,
Starts His Second Hundred Blood Donations
Trenton resident David G. Perez is a very special person who really knows what the spirit of giving is really all about. On November 21st, David made his 100th donation. He came back to the center on December 13th for his 101st. David, who is diabetic, but manages it through diet and pills, is a regular platelets donor. Platelets are a much-needed blood component,. used primarily for burn victims and cancer patients.
“In November, David quietly came in,” remarked Patrick Deschenes, CEO of The Community Blood Council of New Jersey, “and said it was no big deal as he made his 100th donation. We think it IS a big deal. Now David is starting on his second hundred donations and we want to make it special for him. This is someone who has literally given his lifeblood to save other people.”
Mr. Perez made his first donation in 1991, but started giving platelets in 1995. He resides in Trenton with his wife Susan and their daughter, Guadalupe. He is employed as a plant operator with Stonybrook Regional Sewage Authority in Princeton.
