Lindsey Tippett Continues Goal:
5,000 Units of Blood by January 31st
After an immensely successful blood drive at the White Horse-Mercerville Fire House on November 10th, Lindsey wants to help even more kids and adults who need blood. Her goal: 5,000 units of blood collected by the Community Blood Council of New Jersey by the end of January, 2004.
We collected over 115 units at the White Horse-Mercerville drive, and Lindsey appeared on WCAU-TV, Channel 10 in an interview with Edie Huggins. One highlight of the event was the fire truck making a run to Lindsey’s home to pick her up and bring her to the firehouse.
The Ewing Township Police Department held a drive on December 11th, to help Lindsey to reach her goal. Patrolman Fred Dow of the Ewing Police Department was the motivating force behind the drive.
Lindsey has Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that usually afflicts adolescents. Located in her sinus cavity behind her right eye, Lindsey’s cancer, diagnosed two years ago, is inoperable. Although only fourteen years old, she is very committed to helping others in our community
